Liam McChesney has been described as a “basketball prodigy.”

The six-foot-10 player from Prince Rupert certainly deserves the honor.

He recently made his debut on Team Canada at the international GLOBL JAM tournament in Toronto, and helped lead the team to a 89-75 victory against Brazil.

It’s all the more impressive because McChesney is only 20-years-old, making him one of the youngest players on the Canadian Men’s team.

“He was selected after attending an 11-day training camp with 22 other Men’s U23 athletes,” the Haida Gwaii Observer reports

McChesney first made his name playing for the Charles Hays Second Secondary School Rainmakers.

“He’s a six-foot-10 kid, with a seven-foot-two wingspan, with a 36-inch vertical jump, so he has a lot of athletic ability and [is] very coachable,” coach Mel Bishop told the Observer.

McChesney went on to play the 2021-2022 season for the Illinois State Redbirds and averaged more than four points per game.

Now he’s playing at his highest level yet for Team Canada.
