If you’ve been thinking about quitting smoking now is a good time to actually do it. Not only will it make you healthier, but it will also help protect you from coronavirus.
“If you smoke, do you have a higher chance of getting really sick from COVID-19? The answer is yes,” explains a new video from the First Nations Health Authority, a health organization based in B.C. “Smokers are more likely to develop serious signs of COVID-19 infections and to die if hospitalized.”
“The thing is, smoking actually decreases the body’s natural ability to heal from infections,” the video says.
Vaping may seem like a healthier option, but there is evidence that it still harms your lungs and increases the risk of testing positive for coronavirus. “It is best to stay away from vaping or singinficalty reduce your use,” the video explains.
