Do you remember what you were doing 26 years ago? Did it involve jumping out of an airplane with a parachute strapped to your back?
Skeena news broadcaster CFTK-TV was on the scene in Kitwanga in July 1994, when thrill-seekers came from all over the province to participate in the area’s first skydiving competition.
“Even though the weather wasn’t great, everyone got in as many jumps as they could,” reporter Glynnis Waters says in a great retro news segment recently posted by the network.
The segment is part of a series called “Flashback” where CFTK-TV “takes a look at local stories from years gone by.”
“Today we go way back to July 11, 1994,” Hillary Johnson says while introducing the vintage skydiving segment.
A lot has changed since then. But watching this segment of thrill-seekers loving every minute of being in the Skeena, you also get the feeling that lots has stayed the same.
