Noticed a few more people you don’t recognize in Smithers these days?
The town is reportedly experiencing a “real estate boom” related to coronavirus–at least according to a recent news story on CBC.
“I’ve been a realtor for 18 years and i think this is the busiest that I’ve been,” Sandra Hinchliffe told the National.
She thinks that COVID may have something to do with it. “People are making decisions that they may have put off for a long time, people may have thought about moving to the country, now they’re doing it,” she said.
Sales in northern B.C. were 17 percent higher in July 2020 than they were during the same month in 2019.
